I was a student at Miami from 1988 to 1992, when I received my B.S. in the Engineering Physics program. I always enjoyed my time at Culler Hall and thought of it as my home away from home. All of the professors and students were welcoming, helpful and understanding and I really got the feeling that the faculty were trying to teach something, as opposed to having to instruct classes as a side job apart from their research. Drs. Pechan, Scholten, and Priest were my favorites.
After Miami, I did two years of post-grad work at U.C. in Computer Engineering. I followed that up with six years as DST Systems where I rose to the level of Senior Software Development Engineer. At this point in time, I am happily running my own business - 4myBenefits - an employee benefits communication company that specializes in allowing small businesses communicate their employee benefits package to their employees and implement cost saving measures with programs like paperless benefits enrollment systems. My primary function, besides running the business itself, is heading up the software development efforts. We serve companies across the U.S. and in almost all 50 states. I'm coming up on my 10 year anniversary of co-founding the company.
On the personal side, I have a family with three beautiful children, and I play keyboards in a successful 80's cover band in Cincinnati, Amnesia Lane. I cherished my time at Miami and in the Physics Department, and wouldn't trade it for any other experience.
