Matthew Ciccone

The Physics Department at Miami University is one of the finest on campus.  I would not be where I am today with out the selflessness of professors who reached out to me and agreed to do research with me, even though my interest did not always align with theirs.  Even though it was difficult at times, the challenges I faced in my courses provided me with an ability to solve problems that was un-paralleled at my internship my Junior year.
Ultimately, honing my math and computer programing skills in the Physics Department allowed me to land my dream job in Quantitative Finance, beating out a lot of talented Ivy Leaguer's during my aforementioned internship.  I was also lucky enough to be offered an opportunity to continue my studies and will be attending Columbia University to earn my Masters in Mathematical Finance part-time.
Now everywhere I go I get to carry with me a sense of pride for being a part of this department.  I look forward to being able to give back in the future to a department that was able to give so much to me.  (BS Physics 2011)
